Novak Djokovic who had tested positive for COVID in December was seen attending a Belgrade tennis tournament and interacting with young players violating all norms

Had Novak Djokovic just decided to take the COVID vaccine and not try to be the bagpiper of anti-vaxxers at a time when the Omicron variant of the virus is wrecking havoc across the world, the Serbian would have managed to keep at bay all the drama unfolding at the moment.

While he’s not publicly revealed his vaccination status, its no secret that the world number 1 has not taken the vaccine. They have gone onto claim that court documents reveal that Djokovic had contracted COVID on December 16, 2021, citing it as reason to allow the player entry into the country. However, in the midst of this, another controversy has erupted with Djokovic pictured attending a tennis event in Belgrade on 17 December, only one day after he had tested positive for the disease.

He was seen interacting with young players and handing them prizes whilst positive for the disease with him also not bothering to put on a mask in violation of all COVID rules. The Belgrade tennis federation reported that Djokovic had handed over cups and awards to the best young players in 2021 with the federation claiming the event was attended by limited people “due to epidemiological measures related to the coronavirus pandemic”.

He had also attended another gathering on December 16 where the national postal service honoured him by launching stamps featuring him and his achievements.
