“No Homo!” NBA fines Cam Thomas for using anti-gay slur as video goes viral
Thomas murmured the phrase as he spoke with a TNT reporter on the Barclays Center court following the Nets’ 116-105 victory over the Chicago Bulls. The reporter questioned Thomas over remarks made earlier this week by his new teammate Spencer Dinwiddie regarding the Nets’ need for assistance in the “department of looks.”
Thomas responded to Dinwiddie’s remarks, “I saw it.” “However, I thought, “Man, he’s just talking. We already had attractive men.” “No homo,” the 21-year-old continued. Thomas’ statements took the reporter completely off guard, and he instantly commented, “Surely the league office will like that one.”

A short while afterwards, Thomas issued an apology on Twitter.
Thomas admitted that he was having fun and was delighted about the triumph. However, he knows that he probably offended someone even though he was sure he didn’t intend to.
In the past, the league has fined players for making homophobic remarks. Anthony Edwards, a standout for the Timberwolves, was really fined $40k in September for using anti-gay remarks in the past.
