The injury even shocked the commentators.
When the incident occurred, A-League sideline commentator Michael Zappone was on the field and reported hearing a loud crack. The Melbourne City players reportedly hurried to the sidelines to call the ambulance, according to Zappome. He could hear the crack literally metres away from where it occurred, and it was a terrible sound, he claimed.
Adelaide United’s manager was very upset during the post-game talk.
Carl Veart, the head coach of Adelaide United, was visibly upset as he addressed the event in the news conference following the game. He mentioned that the club fully supports Juande Prados Lopez and his family. Nobody ever wants to see something like this happening on a football field. It was indeed difficult to watch and endure the prolonged wait for the player to leave the pitch.
The manager stated that just for him, he is in complete despair. The dressing room and the management may need some time to recover from the shock because all of them are somewhat in disbelief right then. It is definitely going to take some time for the playing group to get over seeing one of its members suffer a major injury like that.
