During the second singles match of the day, World No. 6 Stefanos Tsitsipas of Team Europe faced Diego Schwartzman of Team World. Tsitsipas won the first set, and during his service in the opening game of the second set, an unidentified protester entered the court and attempted to light his arm on fire before being removed from the court. Because of this, the match between the Greek and the Argentine was halted.

The 2022 Laver Cup was temporarily halted on Friday during the day session when a protester against climate change stormed the court and lit himself on fire.
The incident occurred during Diego Schwartzman’s singles match against Stefanos Tsitsipas. Nobody was wounded during the game—not a single player, referee, or spectator. Wearing a white t-shirt that read “End UK Private Jets,” the protester was removed from the court at the O2 in London by security forces.

Stefanos Tsitsiaps of Team Europe, commented, “It came out of nowhere.” Tsitsipas further continued saying, “I had no idea what this was all about,” in the Laver Cup interview after winning his match and giving Team Europe a 2-0 lead.
Team Europe got off to a great start to the Greek Tsitsipas, who defeated Argentine Diego Schwartzman in straight sets, with a score of 6-2, 6-1.
