Andreas Pereira scored a rocket goal against Brentford for Manchester United during the club’s pre-season friendly
Pre-season friendlies are a critical part of any club’s sojourn in football. Not only do they accord the clubs an opponent to better acclimatise themselves ahead of the impending new season but also give the second string players a chance to showcase their mettle and make a case for regular inclusion in the side’s modus operandi.
Failing to make any kind of serious impact during his time at Manchester United, for Andreas Pereira, the pre-season matches came bearing colossal ramifications. With his side on a heavy spending spree, Pereira knew the pre-season fixtures were the only time he would get any kind of meaningful time out in the middle.
Manchester United vs Brentford Pre-Season Friendly: Andreas Pereira Nets Wordily Goal

Receiving the ball just outside the box, Pereira connected as cleanly as he could. His thundering volley hit the crossbar before bundling past a helpless Brentford goal-keeper.
The spectacular goal saw Bruno Fernandes, Alex Telles and the rest of the side’s substitutes all get to their feet as they accoladed the strike. Manchester United however failed to capitalise on the strike with the team being held to a 2-2 draw after Bryan Mbeumo salvaged a draw for his team with his 78th minute goal.
The first half had ended 1-1 as well with Sandon Baptiste cancelling out an Anthony Elanga goal. This is the second straight friendly in which Manchester United have failed to register a win.
The club has meanwhile acquired the services of both Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane ahead of the new season with the two names joining from Borussia Dortmund and Real Madrid respectively for the 2021-22 Premier League season.
