“Unsportsmanlike conduct,” Michael Masi Warns Nikita Mazepin His Antics Won’t Be Tolerated

While FIA F1 Director, Michael Masi affirmed that any infringements wouldn’t be tolerated, he also asserted that Nikita Mazepin wasn’t a cause of concern at the moment

Ever since he’s made a foray in the world of Formula 1, Nikita Mazepin hasn’t endured the best of times. The Haas rookie has been in horrid touch in the ongoing season, a driver whose spot in the team is often attributed to the power and money his father wields.

Unable to keep his car in control, Mazepin has over the year become infamous for the slew of spins he’s embarked on. However, that hasn’t been the only aberration from him with the Haas man being called by the stewards for a raft of infringements on the circuit.

The recent Russian Grand Prix saw Mazepin being sanctioned once again as he was shown the black and white flag for blocking Yuki Tsunoda. The incident occurred when the Japanese driver tried to overtake Mazepin through turn 12 of the Sochi circuit, a move which Mazepin decided to block by swerving suddenly to his left.

Michael Masi Unconcerned About Nikita Mazepin

While Mazepin managed to evade further punishment for his move, the driver has over the course of this season gone onto accrue 4 penalties in 15 races. And while FIA F1 director, Michael Masi talked about how such moves won’t be tolerated on the circuit, he was quick to affirm that Mazepin’s style of driving wasn’t an overall concern at the moment.

“It’s one of those things that we’ve seen a few times and we’ve issued black-and-whites for before. It’s unsportsmanlike conduct and it’s not something we’re going to tolerate,” Masi told The Race.

“He’s probably had a few stewards’ visits, but I think if you went through and had a look at it all there are probably other drivers that are up there, or have had more.

“I wouldn’t suggest there is anything untoward or a concern,” Masi continued.
