2023 The American Cup Blitz final results, score, top performer, & winner
GM Fabiano Caruana was the only player leading the 2023 The American Cup Blitz with 8.5 points after nine games at the end of the final round. Leinier Dominguez Perez, who finished with 6.5/9 points, was Caruana’s closest competitor, but by maintaining his perfect record and playing brilliantly, Caruana was able to overcome him. Levon Aronian, who was the pre-tournament favorite, finished this competition in third place with a respectable 5.5/9 score.
The American Cup was organized by the Saint Louis Chess Club, and it had an exciting double elimination structure featuring world-class chess masters. The American Cup’s double elimination format guaranteed that there was thrilling chess play, shocking upsets, & spectacular comebacks. Despite being the sideshow, The American Cup Blitz was played from 26th March through 28th March and attracted plenty attention.
