The Thailand Open 2023 badminton event, which is taking place from May 30 to June 4 in Bangkok, will include some of India’s top badminton players, including PV Sindhu and Saina Nehwal.
The Thailand Open is the eleventh tournament on the 2023 BWF World Tour and follows the Indonesia Masters and Malaysia Masters as the third Super 500 event of the year. Every game will be available for live streaming in India.
The Canadian Michelle Li, who is presently ranked 13th in the world in women’s singles, will face two-time Olympic medalist PV Sindhu when she starts her campaign. The previous world champion could face Rio 2016 Olympic gold medalist Carolin Marin in the quarterfinals.
BWF Thailand Open 2023 badminton live streaming telecast and where to watch in India
In 2018, Japanese player Nozomi Okuhara defeated PV Sindhu in the Thailand Open final. The 27-year-old PV Sindhu was ousted from the Malaysia Masters 2023 by the Indonesian Gregoria Mariska Tunjung after she reached the semifinals. Last month, the Indonesian also defeated PV Sindhu in the final of the Madrid Spain Masters 2023.
Meanwhile, after taking a break due to injury, Saina Nehwal, a former world number one, will return to the court. At the Orleans Masters in April 2023, she last made an appearance in a competitive context.
One of the other Indian women’s singles competitors, Malvika Bansod, will compete against Gao Fang Jie of China in the preliminary round. Tanya Hemanth, Ashmita Chaliha, and Aakarshi Kashyap will also begin the qualifying.
In the men’s singles competition, Kidambi Srikanth, a former world number one, will face Weng Hong Yang of China, who fell to HS Prannoy of India in the Malaysia Masters 2023 final on Sunday. The tournament in the Thai capital will be without HS Prannoy, who won his first BWF World Tour championship in Kuala Lumpur.
World no. 22 Lakshya Sen, the 2022 Commonwealth Games champion, will compete against Wang Tzu Wei, the world No. 26 from Chinese Taipei, in the first match. The 2023 Orlean’s Masters champion Priyanshu Rajawat will also begin in the main draw.
Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty, a men’s doubles team from India, will also play after missing the Malaysia Masters. In the main draw, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty, who are ranked fifth in the world, will face France’s Lucas Corvee and Ronan Labar. In March, the Indian doubles team claimed victory at the Swiss Open 2023.
