Meanwhile, after taking a break due to injury, Saina Nehwal, a former world number one, will return to the court. At the Orleans Masters in April 2023, she last made an appearance in a competitive context.

One of the other Indian women’s singles competitors, Malvika Bansod, will compete against Gao Fang Jie of China in the preliminary round. Tanya Hemanth, Ashmita Chaliha, and Aakarshi Kashyap will also begin the qualifying.

In the men’s singles competition, Kidambi Srikanth, a former world number one, will face Weng Hong Yang of China, who fell to HS Prannoy of India in the Malaysia Masters 2023 final on Sunday. The tournament in the Thai capital will be without HS Prannoy, who won his first BWF World Tour championship in Kuala Lumpur.
