Sergio Ramos PSG Transfer: Neymar Plays Massive Role In Landing The Spanish CB

Paris-Saint Germain acquired the services of Spanish center-back Sergio Ramos as a free agent after his contract expired in June 2021 with Neymar being integral to the move

35-year-old veteran Sergio Ramos has opted to go to Paris after negotiations with many Premier League clubs who were giving him more salary but he chose the PSG project as he found it was worth his time. PSG did some good business in this transfer window recruiting Achraf Hakimi, Wijnaldum, and Donnarumma.

After the signing of Ramos, it was later revealed that Brazilian winger Neymar was directly involved in this transfer as he wanted Ramos to join the club and bolster their sloppy defense. When players start interfering with the club’s decision it is usually not a good sign.

There are people whose job is to identify good players for the club and negotiate the best deal for the club but if players start getting involved and demand certain players is when you know that the club will be facing more scrutiny from the media and fans.

Sergio Ramos Career, Goals And Achievements

Sergio Ramos has scored more than 100 goals for Real Madrid in 671 appearances in all competitions but his most significant goal came in the final of the UEFA Champions League against their bitter rivals Atletico Madrid where he equalized in the dying moments, leading Real Madrid to their ‘La Decima’, their tenth trophy in the competition which they craved for a long time.

Neymar hopes that Ramos can bring in his Champions League experience and can guide a team that is purely based on money to the Champions League title which seems highly unlikely as money cannot win you trophies.

Ramos has made a career out of leading his club to Europe’s top trophy. Consequently, he wanted to continue that legacy in the French capital. In fact, the allure of potentially winning PSG’s first Champions League would also have proved a key factor.

After joining Paris-Saint Germain he wrote on Twitter.

“We’re going to fight with everything we have for everything.”

He did not extend his contract with Real Madrid and after spending 16 seasons with the Spanish giants, he leaves the club becoming a legend and will always be remembered for his heroics.
