Ronald Koeman has finally been sacked after a string of disappointing performances from the Blaugrana squad under his management, know his salary and compensation
FC Barcelona made an official announcement on Thursday about relieving Ronald Koeman of his duties as first team coach of the Spanish giants. The President of the Club, Joan Laporta was the one to inform the former Barcelona and Dutch footballer of the decision after yet another defeat (1-0) by Rayo Vallecano, the smallest club in the primera. This was Barcaโs fourth away game- they have not even won one and have only scored one goal.
Barcelona has already lost 5 games this season, and just lost 2 games in 3 days i.e. 2-1 against Real Madrid on 24th October, and now 1-0 against Rayo Vallecano. The Blaugrana side slipped to ninth in the La Liga table with the defeat against Rayo and that was the end of the story for Koeman as Barcelona manager.
Barca had never been beaten by Rayo in 19 years and they have never been this bad. But this was something which was going to happen anyway and the news is not that surprising.
FC Barcelona is in talks with Xavi to replace Koeman as the new manager and it looks like the deal will be sealed without many hindrances.
Ronald Koeman Salary And Contract At Barcelona
The Dutchman had signed a two-year contract with the Blaugrana side in 2020 which would keep him at the club till June 30, 2022. Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, Barcelonaโs financial position is in a very poor state, with the club finding themselves in huge debt. Koeman took a pay cut on his 10 million pounds salary which took his salary to be less than 7.5 million pounds per year. This salary cut was made in order to register some new players that were signed by Barca this year.
What will be the compensation amount paid by Barca to Koeman?
FC Barcelona will be forced to pay a compensation amount which will be close to that of 12 million Euros to Koeman now that he is sacked. It looks like the Dutch manager also saw it coming and will not take a penny less than what Barcelona are to pay him as his compensation fee.
