An Impact Wrestling wrestler named Gisele Shaw took to Twitter to denounce Rick Steiner for allegedly making transphobic remarks about her at this past weekend’s Wrestlecon signing ceremony.

On Friday, the public figure accused him of engaging in what she claimed was a highly insulting rant against her transgender status. She claims that when she was at WrestleCon, Steiner repeatedly harassed her, calling her “a guy,” “filth,” and “a piece of trash,” and urging her to “get the f*ck away from here” in a tweet. Shaw alleges that Steiner also made fun of another Impact performer by using a slur.

Gisele Shaw reportedly ignored the transphobic outburst at first and didn’t know who was speaking. Later, when she returned to the same location, she discovered that Steiner was still making fun of her. He continued to yell insults at her as Shaw walked up to him.

What did Shaw claim?

Shaw alleges that other well-known wrestlers were present when the incident occurred and did nothing to stop it. Because Friday was the International Day of Transgender Visibility, she states she is openly acknowledging this experience, not out of concern for others but rather to speak out on behalf of herself and others who regularly deal with situations like this.

Shaw claims that these incidents keep happening because “people let it slip,” and she has made it clear that she won’t do business with anyone who employs these types of people.

Gisele Shaw, a transgender woman, came out during Pride Toronto last year. The wrestler concluded by thanking her Impact colleagues for their assistance at the time. She continued by thanking Impact for being a wonderful place to work. She continued, “I am incredibly blessed to work with such amazing individuals at a firm that has no space for hate, bigotry, or judgement.

Rick Steiner has not yet responded to Gisele Shaw’s claim.
