Mick Schumacher has earned the unwelcome nickname “F1’s Crash Kid” after another poor weekend in Monaco.

The Haas driver, 23, crashed out after losing control of his car at the fast turn 14 in his second major accident this season. He smashed into the barriers, splitting the car in half and bringing out the red flag.

It comes just months after Schumacher crashed during qualifying for the Saudi Grand Prix. Former Formula One driver Christian Danner has warned Schumacher that if he cannot finish a race weekend without colliding, team boss, Guenther Steiner may lose faith in him.

“He can keep up in terms of speed,” he told Sport1, “but things can’t go on like this with the incidents.” He’s causing millions of dollars in damage, and a team like Haas can put that money to better use.

Mick Schumacher of Haas was involved in a massive crash into the barrier at the Monaco Grand Prix, causing his car to split in half. The safety car was deployed after the incident at the swimming pool chicane, and he escaped unharmed but was checked over by the medical team on site.

The red flag was raised as stewards rushed to clear the debris from the track. Schumacher’s teammate, Kevin Magnussen, was also forced out of the race before the German hit the barriers. Magnussen’s water pressure went out just as Schumacher was forced to retire.

After Mick Schumacher’s second major crash of the season, it’s safe to say the Haas Team Principal is enraged, with Guenther Steiner issuing a warning to him.

The American team had a difficult weekend, as Kevin Magnussen retired moments after an engine failure. Mick Schumacher spun out of the swimming pool chicane and crashed hard into the barrier.
