2022 Khelo India Youth Games Schedule, Venue, Participating Teams, And Day 9 Winners
The day began with Haryana’s Riddhi (girls recurve) and Maharashtra’s Aditi Swami (girls compound) opening their respective states’ gold medal accounts. Apeksha Fernandes won two gold medals in the 200m butterfly and 50m breaststroke, while table tennis star Diya Chitale beat Delhi’s Lakshita Narang 4-3 in the Girls singles final, and Maharashtra’s Rishabh Ghubde won a gold in the boys pole mallakhamb.
Maharashtra judokas and swimmers were looking to take a big lead, however, Haryana judokas and swimmers had other ideas. Locals Ravi and Anil won the -81kg and +81kg judo golds, respectively, before Veer Khattar won the Boys 50m freestyle gold in 23.94s and Vansh Pannu added another gold from the swimming pool.
With a 2-0 triumph over Jharkhand, the Tamil Nadu girl’s football team added another gold medal to their collection.
2022 Khelo India Youth Games Latest Results, Standings, And Medal Table
With only two days of play remaining, Maharashtra with 37 golds was one gold ahead of Haryana with 36, which failed to win even one gold medal on Day 8. Surprisingly, both teams scored five gold medals on the penultimate day to maintain the status quo of the previous two days, with Maharashtra maintaining a lone gold advantage.
Currently, Maharashtra has 42 gold, 35 silver, and 30 bronze medals, while Haryana has 41 gold, 35 silver, and 42 bronze medals. The count includes Maharashtra’s Mallakhamb pole gold medals, which has yet to be reflected in the official medals count.
Haryana, on the other hand, will head into the final day full of optimism, since 20 gold medals are up for grabs in boxing. They have 12 boxers in the finals, but Maharashtra just has four. Hence, Haryana might be poised for a sensational finish, with a gold mine waiting for them in the boxing ring.
Kerala continued to dominate the Kalaripayattu events on the last day of competition, winning three of the four gold medals on offer to finish with a total of 14 gold, 12 silver, and 12 bronze medals, keeping them in the top five. Karnataka held on to third place owing to its swimmers.
