Forbes reports that Kanye West has lost his billionaire status because Adidas canceled a lucrative Yeezy clothing contract as a result of his bizarre anti-Semitic remarks.
Although other wealthy firms have ditched the fashion designer ever since he began making contentious claims in interviews and on social media, Adidas’ decision to part ways with him dealt him the ultimate blow.
Kanye West New Net Worth In 2022 As He Loses Billionaire Tag After Adidas Pulls Out Of Yeezy Deal
Adidas issued a statement on Tuesday in response to West’s string of anti-Semitic remarks, saying,
Adidas does not tolerate antisemitism and any other sort of hate speech.
The company added,
Ye’s recent comments and actions have been unacceptable, hateful and dangerous, and they violate the company’s values of diversity and inclusion, mutual respect and fairness.
Ye, who officially changed his name from Kanye West, had been collaborating with Adidas on his Yeezy shoe brand since 2013. Additionally, Gap, Balenciaga, and Vogue also ended their collaborations with the West.
Since then, his wealth has significantly decreased, and eventually, it goes down below a billion.
Updated Net Worth Of Kanye West
According to Forbes, Kanye West has an estimated net worth of $2 billion, $1.5 billion of which came from his partnership with Adidas. However, his net worth decreased to $400 million after the rapper’s breakup with the apparel and shoe company.
His profits from his music career, liquid wealth, real estate assets, and his 5% ownership position in his ex-wife Kim Kardashian’s shapewear company Skims all contribute to this total.
His estimated net worth up until a few months ago was $4 billion. But when companies began to sever their relations with him one by one, his income plummeted.
Over the years, several sources have estimated the wealth of rappers in different ways. Bloomberg predicted that his net worth is $6.6 billion in 2021, compared to Forbes’ $2 billion forecast.
What Did He Say That Force Adidas To Cut Ties With Him?
Kanye West, a 45-year-old rapper, has been at the center of a weeks-long dispute that was put to an end by Adidas’ decision to terminate connections with him. West remarked on the “Drink Champs” podcast earlier this month, saying, “I can say anti-Semitic s–t and Adidas cannot drop me.”
He had said that he would go “death con 3” on Jews before making the audacious claim, which has now been proven false. West probably intended “defcon,” a military abbreviation that stands for “increase in force readiness over normal readiness.”
West also criticised the “Jewish media” for putting him on guard online when he published a snapshot of a text exchange between him and Diddy in which the rapper wrote,
This ain’t a game. Ima use you as an example to show the Jewish people that told you to call me that no one can threaten or influence me.
