The shocking and horrific sight was witnessed by the neighbours. Luckily the children of the woman was inside the house so they did not bear witness to the grisly murder of their mother.
As per authorities, the woman was already granted a restriction order and that the man had schizophrenia.
After the horrific death of her mother, the children were taken into the custody of Child Protective Services.
The 33-year-old is identified as Jose Raphael Solano Landaeta, who has beheaded his ex-lover Karina Castro outside her home on Thursday, September 8, in the Bay Area in the presence of neighbors.
Later, Jose was arrested under the charges of homicide. As per reports, Jose has fled the scene but he reappeared just when the cops were at the scene, which is when he was apprehended.
As per various reports, Jose is the father of one-year-old Child of Karina but she was granted a restraining order against him in April 2022.
The family of 27-year-old Castro has explained that Jose is a diagnosed schizophrenic with a history of alcohol issues. Her family had warned her to stay away from Jose reportedly the girl continued to see him.
According to the San Mateo County District Attorney’s Office, “The defendant attacked the victim with a samurai sword, slashing numerous times causing the victim’s head to be almost severed.”
As per the Attorney’s office, Jose went away to put the sword in his car and he came back to check upon the lifeless body of his ex-lover.
The dramatic movie-scene like a crime took place at the 300-400 block of Laurel Street and Magnolia Avenue at around 11:50 am.
According to a report by ABC7, the duo were in an ongoing relationship but the victim got a temporary restraining order against the suspect.
On Monday, September 12, Jose appeared in the San Mateo County Superior Court with a lawyer named Robert Cummings.
However, Cummings raised concern about whether the defendant was competent enough to stand a trial.
In a response to the concern, the District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe said, “It is better to get this taken care of now than to do it in two years when we’re about ready to start a trial.”
Meanwhile in a press conference, the investigator Lieutenant Eamon Allen, revealed that, “They arrived within minutes and found an obviously deceased female in the street in that area.”
They began to work the scene and shortly then after, the male suspect arrived back at the scene and was quickly detained by sheriff’s deputies.
Along with homicide, Jose is charged with one felony count of murder, with two enhancements, use of a deadly weapon, and great bodily injury.
