Ben Duckett replaces Bairstow for the third test against South Africa.
Ben Duckett has been added to England’s test team ahead of the September 8 commencement of the third test against South Africa. The ECB also stated that the replacement for Bairstow for the T20 World Cup would be announced later.

In the meantime, Bairstow explained the sequence of events that resulted in his injuries on social media on Friday and expressed regret for missing the bus to the World Cup in Australia.
Unfortunately, he will be unable to attend any of the upcoming games or tours. The cause is that he had a rare accident and hurt his lower leg, which will require surgery. He slipped on the golf course and got hurt, according to Bairstow’s Instagram account.
He is devastated, but he wants to send his best wishes to everyone this week at The Oval as well as the players travelling to Australia for the T20 World Cup.
