His stellar performance in high school paved the way for his collegiate career with the East Carolina Pirates.
During his time with the Pirates, Proehl faced a setback due to an injury that ended his season at the start of preseason training camp. However, he used a medical redshirt as a true freshman, showcasing his resilience and determination to overcome obstacles.
Despite the challenges, Proehl continued to shine on the field, catching 47 passes for 577 yards and four touchdowns in his junior year. His outstanding performance caught the attention of NFL scouts, leading him to declare for the 2021 NFL Draft after his junior year.
