On Sunday, Kolkata Knight Riders clinched their third Indian Premier League title after winning by eight wickets against SunRisers Hyderabad. At the MA Chidambaram Stadium, KKR bowled out Pat Cummins’s team for a mere 113 runs. Later, KKR chased down the target with 57 balls to spare.

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) captain Pat Cummins won the toss and chose to bat first, but the decision soon proved costly. The team suffered a catastrophic beginning, losing both Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma within the first two overs. Despite a valiant effort from Pat Cummins, who top-scored with 24 runs, SRH could only muster a meager total of 113 runs. On the bowling front for KKR, Andre Russell was outstanding with three wickets, while Mitchell Starc and Harshit Rana contributed with two wickets each.

In their chase of 114 runs, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) lost Sunil Narine early but Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Venkatesh Iyer swiftly took control. Venkatesh Iyer played a remarkable unbeaten innings, scoring 52 runs off just 26 balls, while Gurbaz added 39 runs. KKR comfortably reached the target in just 10.3 overs, securing a notable victory at Chepauk Stadium.

Indian Premier League 2024: list of awards & winners
By clinching the 2024 IPL title, the Kolkata Knight Riders will secure prize money of INR 20 crore from the total pool of INR 46 crore. Meanwhile, the Sunrisers Hyderabad will receive INR 13 crore, despite not winning the final. Virat Kohli will be awarded INR 15 lakhs for earning the Orange Cap, and Harshal Patel will also take home INR 15 lakhs for claiming the Purple Cap. Additionally, Sunil Narine will be honored with INR 12 lakhs for being named the Player of the Season.
Mitchell Starc was named as the man of the match in the final. Jake Fraser-McGurk was named the striker of the season while Sunil Narine was the Ultimate Fantasy Player of the Season.
Abhishek Sharma received Rs.10 lakhs for hitting the most 6s. Travis Head received the same amount for hitting the most 4s.
Ramandeep Singh won Rs.10 lakhs for winning the catch of the season award.
SRH were given Rs.10 lakhs for being the winner of the fairplay award. The Hyderabad Cricket Association was given Rs.50 lakhs for mantaining the best pitch.
