Following a terrible fire that killed 27 people, including children, at the TRP game zone in Rajkot, an owner partner and the facility’s manager were taken into custody on charges of culpable homicide.

Sections 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder), 308 (attempt to commit culpable homicide), 337 (causing hurt by an act that endangers life or personal safety of others), 338 (causing grievous hurt to a person by doing an act that endangers their life or personal safety), and 114 (someone present when the offence is committed) are the sections under which all of the accused of TRP game zone incident are booked.

It was discovered that the TRP aka The Retail Park game zone was not operating with a fire NOC. A senior police officer revealed on Sunday, the day following the disaster, that although the game zone had fire safety equipment but there was lack of action taken to stop the fire.

The fire tragedy was given suo motu notice by the Gujarat High Court on Sunday, and it was declared a “man-made disaster” at first glance. The bench observed that the facility included a stock of extremely flammable items like petrol, fibres and fibreglass sheets.


Rajkot Deputy Commissioner of Police (crime) Parthrajsinh Gohil revealed that Yuvrajsinh Solanki, a partner in the Raceway Enterprise which owns the establishment, which operated the TRP game zone, and the entertainment facility’s manager Nitin Jain have so far been arrested.

According to the FIR, the Rajkot taluka police have charged six individuals with culpable homicide that does not constitute murder. These individuals include Dhaval Thakkar, the owner of Dhaval Corporation, Ashoksinh Jadeja and Kiritsinh Jadeja of Raceway Enterprise, Prakashchand Hiran, Yuvrajsinh Solanki, and Rahul Rathod who were all partners.


To find the four fugitive suspects, four distinct criminal branch teams have been assembled, according to Bhargava.

Rajkot Police Commissioner Raju Bhargava informed reporters that the gaming zone was given a booking licence by the local police in November 2023, and the licence was renewed for the months of January through December 31, 2024.

According to the FIR, the accused built the TRP game zone by utilising metal sheet fabrication to construct a structure that was 50 metres wide by 60 metres long and between two and three stories tall.  Joint Additional Commissioner of Police Vidhi Chaudhary’s Special Investigation Team (SIT) and the crime section of the Rajkot police have taken up the case’s investigation.

Compensation to the families

State Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel said that each injured person would receive ₹50,000 and the families of the deceased will receive ₹2 lakh from the PM’s National Relief Fund.
