The Indian Street Premier League (ISPL) emerges as a new cricket competition aimed at actively uncovering and enhancing new talents. Its primary goal is to identify, nurture, and propel emerging players into the limelight, providing them with a conducive and competitive platform. For this tournament, Ravi Shastri serves as the chief mentor, while Pravin Amre and Jatin Paranjpe lead the selection committee.

In a surprising twist, celebrities from Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu cinema are team owners. Amitabh Bachchan, an icon in Bollywood, owns Majhi Mumbai, while Srinagar Ke Veer belongs to Akshay Kumar. Hrithik Roshan holds ownership of Bangalore Strikers, Suriya has ownership of Chennai Singhams, and Falcon Risers Hyderabad is owned by Telugu star Ram Charan. Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan jointly own the Tiigers of Kolkata.

Prior to the inaugural game, the ISPL T10 2024 tournament kicked off with a special celebrity match in Mumbai between Khiladi XI and Masters XI. Sachin Tendulkar led the Masters XI while Akshay Kumar led Khiladi XI. Tendulkar and his team batted first, scoring 95/7 in 10 overs, with the captain himself leading the charge, making 30 runs off just 17 balls. Despite Irfan Pathan’s quick 32 runs off eight balls, Khiladi XI could only manage 89/6 in response.
