Since the first since stepping down as, former manager and club legend of Real Madrid, Zinedine Zidane wrote an open letter questioning the club hierarchy and in particular Florentino Perez.

Since his second spell of taking charge of Real Madrid in 2019, Zidane has helped Real Madrid win 2 La Liga Titles and 3 Champions League Titles and has stepped down after his first trophy-less season with the Los Blancos.

Zinedine Zidane on Florentino Perez: What did Zidane write in his open letter?

He wrote, “I’m leaving because I feel the club no longer has the faith in me I need, nor the support to build something in the medium or long term.”

Zidane added, “I wasn’t asking for privileges, of course not, just a little more recollection. ”It hurt me so much when I read in the press, after a defeat, that I would be sacked if I didn’t win the next game.”

Zinedine Zidane also suggested that his relationship with the club president had changed in recent weeks, and hit out at the series of leaks and stories about his future coming from within Real.

He concluded, “It hurt me and the whole team because these deliberately leaked messages to the media negatively influenced the squad, they created doubts and misunderstandings.”

Over the past few years, Perez has had problems with various big personalities, be it Zinedine Zidane or Cristiano Ronaldo. Zidane being the latest victim is the first to openly state his disarray in the open via his open letter published in sports daily AS.

It is believed that the latter was robbed for his 6th Ballon d’Or ever since he started getting on bad terms with Madrid and eventually left the club.

Having said it remains to be seen who gets appointed as the new Real Madrid manager as Zidane shows his utter disappointment after being sacked from his managerial post from his long loved club.
