According to the official schedule, the 13th edition of the IBA Women’s World Boxing Championships took place in New Delhi’s KD Jadhav Indoor Hall from March 15 through March 26. It is known that a total of 324 boxers competed in the championships across twelve different weight divisions.
India put up an impressive performance at the IBA Women’s World Boxing Championship in New Delhi, taking home four gold medals across all categories. Nikhat Zareen, Lovlina Borgohain, Saweety Boora, & Nitu Ghanghas won the final match of their respective categories, which allowed India to equal their best-ever performance in the tournament’s history.

Indian performance in the 2023 Women’s World Boxing Championships
At the IBA Women’s World Boxing Championships 2023, Olympic bronze medalist Lovlina Borgohain bagged India’s fourth gold medal of the tournament with her resounding win. In the middleweight division final, Lovlina won her first-ever World Championship gold medal by defeating Australian fighter Caitlin Parker 5-2. In the meantime, Nikhat defeated Nguyen Thi Tam of Vietnam 5-0 in the 50 kg fly weight final to defend her world championship.
Nitu Ghanghas and Saweety Boora, both won gold on Saturday in their respective weight classes to open India’s medal tally. Nikhat Zareen and Lovlina received congratulations from Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi through Twitter for winning gold medals in their respective categories.

IBA Women’s World Boxing Championships 2023: prize money
It has been reported that each gold medal winner from this prestigious event will bag $100,000 and silver medal will clinch $50,000. Additionally, each bronze medal winner will get $25,000 from the competition’s net prize pool of $2,400,000. Indian boxers have claimed $400,000 in rewards as four boxers from the country won gold medals in their respective divisions.
