Nitu Ghanghas won a gold medal at the Commonwealth Games in 2022 in Birmingham by defeating Demie-Jade Resztan from England by 5-0. She marked this win on 7 August 2022.
Nitu Ghanghas has become the 6th Indian boxer (male or female) who is World Champion after defeating Lutsaikhany Altantsetseg of Mongolia by 5-0 on the 25th of March 2023 in the minimum weight category.

Nitu Ghanghas hails from Dhanana village in Haryana’s Bhiwani district, India. Nitu was born to Bhagwan, who is an employee at Haryana Rajya Sabha while her mother Mukesh Devi is a homemaker. Her brother’s name is Akshit Kumar.
As per her mother Mukesh Devi, she was a ‘naughty child’ and she got into fights with her siblings during her school days. She started getting formal training when she was 12 years.
Nitu decided to give up on this sport but her father intervened. Nitu’s father took an unpaid leave of three years from his job to help out his daughter to realize her dream of becoming a boxer. Nitu also did farming on the small stretch of land which her parents owned and also took a loan of 6 lakhs. Her father oversaw Nitu’s training and took care of her diet personally.
She was noticed by renowned coach Jagdish Singh who is the founder of the renowned Bhiwani Boxing Club and he is the mentor of Vijender Singh as well. Nitu Ghanghas attended Sri Guru Gobind Singh College, and she further joined the boxing club of Bhiwani. Her height is 5 feet 4 inches and her weight is approximately 55 kg as of 2023.
