After his opponent Kento Momota resigned with a back injury and Denmark’s Rasmus Gemke, who is also in Group A, conceded his match against compatriot Viktor Axelsen due to a knee injury, Lakshya Sen advanced to the semi-finals.
In his second men’s singles group B match, world number 14 Kidambi Srikanth, who had reached the knockout stage in the 2014 edition of the year-ending event, jeopardised his chances of making it to the knockout stage by losing 18-21 7-21 to Kunlavut Vitidsarn of Thailand. Srikanth is still in the running for a semi-final spot, but he meets All England champion Lee Zii Jia in a must-win match while hoping Vitidsarn falters.

These matches are currently being hosted by Bali International Convention Center in Nusa Dua, Badung Regency, Bali, Indonesia. They were originally supposed to take place in Tianhe Gymnasium in Guangzhou, China, but were rescheduled. From the 1st to the 5th of December, the event will take place.
