At the Payyanad Stadium, Odisha FC celebrated wildly after reaching their first-ever Hero Indian Super Cup final by defeating NorthEast United FC 3-1. Despite falling down early owing to a goal from the NorthEast’s prolific goal scorer and Colombian striker Wilmar Jordan, Nandha Kumar’s two goals and a goal from Diego Mauricio allowed Odisha to win easily.

Although Odisha FC triumphed against NorthEast United to register their third head-to-head victory of this season, NorthEast United showed early promise and scored in the second minute when right winger Rochharzela passed the ball into the box for Jordan to slam home. Odisha quickly responded, however, and scored the equalizer as Spanish midfielder Victor Rodriguez Romero launched a perfectly timed through pass down the right flank to Jerry Mawihmingthanga.
Odisha came out strong in the second half, maintaining their advantage in the attacking half. When Nandha Kumar buried his opportunity in the 64th minute, Clifford Miranda’s team finally took the lead. NorthEast kept making attempts to get an equalizer against Odisha but were unsuccessful. However, before the end of regulation, Brazilian attacker Diego Mauricio increased the margin of victory. The attacker, who scored frequently in the Hero Indian Super League, made it 3-1 with a low shot into the bottom corner that easily outclassed Mirshad.
