The two-time PGA Tour winner Grayson Murray, a golfer from the United States passed away early on Saturday. He was thirty years old at the time of his passing. Murray did not take part in the Charles Schwab Challenge’s second round earlier on Friday.

Murray disclosed on social media in 2021 that he was undergoing alcoholism treatment. His parents have now confirmed that he committed suicide.

In 2017, Grayson’s father Eric Murray spoke openly to NBC Sports about his son’s battles with anxiety, sadness, and a concussion.

Grayson Colby Murray was born on October 1, 1993 to Eric Murray in North Carolina. He was 6ft 1in tall. Murray studied at Arizona State University, Wake Forest University, and East Carolina University. He participated as an amateur in the 2013 U.S. Open.

Golfer Grayson Murray was unmarried but was engaged to Christiana Ritchie. In 2021, the couple met at the American Express tournament in Palm Springs.

Grayson Colby Murray was considered a top-ranked golfer in his age group during his early career years. He had won three consecutive Callaway Junior Championships. Murray tied for 74th place at Q School to win conditional eligibility for the 2016 Web.com Tour.

He competed on a sponsor exemption in the Rex Hospital Open in his home state of North Carolina, where he tied for tenth place.  After finishing 18th on the regular-season money list and posting four more top-10s, including a playoff defeat at the Digital Ally Open, he was granted a spot on the 2017 PGA Tour.

He achieved his first victory on the PGA Tour on July 23, 2017, when he won the Barbasol Championship.

During the 2023 season, Murray won two events on the Korn Ferry Tour: the AdventHealth Championship and the Simmons Bank Open, which was a Korn Ferry Finals competition. He became a recipient of a tour card on the PGA Tour in 2024 because of his achievements.

He secured his second victory on the PGA Tour on January 14, 2024, when he prevailed in a playoff at the Sony Open in Hawaii.

Murray had a serious scooter accident in Bermuda in October 2022, which forced him to withdraw from the Butterfield Bermuda Championship.

At thirty years old, Grayson Colby Murray passed away on May 25, 2024. A day prior, he announced his withdrawal from the Charles Schwab Challenge, citing illness.

Over his seven-year career, Murray amassed career earnings of $3,352,476. After a successful 40-foot putt to win the Sony Open in Hawaii in January, Murray rose to 46th in the Official World Golf Ranking, and was currently ranked 58.
