Rule Changes in 2022 F1 Season
The aerodynamics of a car can heavily impact the performance of the car and to prevent richest teams from having advantage, authorities have restricted the number of aerodynamics upgrades allowed per team. FIA authorities introduced these rules to cut down the cost of competition between teams and level the field financially.
To govern aerodynamic testing, the championship implemented a sliding scale system in 2021. Under this method, the teams that finished last in the World Constructors’ Championship the previous year would be allocated more time for aerodynamic testing. The most successful teams, on the other hand, would be given less time to complete testing. In 2021, the system was tested, and the findings were utilised to develop a more formal, structured, and steeper model for the 2022 championship.
