As many fans are aware, Episode 5, Act 1 will be released in the next patch for the popular shooter. The map will be removed to make room for Pearl, VALORANT’s newest map collection. Haven, Bind, Ascent, Icebox, Breeze, and Fracture will be part of a short six-map pool rotation, with Pearl joining competitive queues on July 12.

Reason of “Split” Removal, Official Communication, And Other Details

Joe Lansford, Valorant’s map design lead, has explained the choice, confirming why it made sense when the new map, Pearl, was introduced. In a fresh announcement, he stated that they considered a variety of reasons while reaching this decision. Player feedback, time since release, previous and planned changes, what the map offers in terms of strategic variation, and where Pearl fits into it all are all factors to consider.

The team arrived at Split after plugging all of those numbers into the magical algorithm engine. They are confident, though, that it will return at some point in the future and perhaps with a few tweaks.

With the arrival of Pearl, a seven-map pool will remain in place, and this is also due to the necessity to master a new level to play. The number will provide gamers adequate time to master new angles, lineups, and strategies, as well as make onboarding new players easier.
