Following allegations by Warren police that he sent his stepdaughter improper texts, a Detroit police officer Earl Raynard Anderson Jr. and the stepfather of a sixth-grade girl faces jail time and suspension from the department.

The Detroit Police Department confirmed Monday night, March 3, 2025, that Officer Earl Raynard Anderson Jr. has been placed on paid administrative leave and Anderson, 37, is being investigated for possibly sending inappropriate texts to the girl on Feruary. 22, 2025.
“These allegations are concerning — troubling, to be exact,” Detroit police Chief Todd Bettison said in a statement. “Because the alleged crime occurred in the city of Warren, the Warren Police Department has taken the lead on the investigation.”
Warren Police have charged Earl Raynard Anderson Jr. with accosting a child for immoral purposes after he allegedly texted his 12-year-old stepdaughter offensive texts and urged her to remove them.
Earl Raynard Anderson Jr. allegedly pledged not to treat the girl like a child in the texts, which the girl’s father, Brandyn Harris revealed to media. Age 37 Detroit Police Officer Earl who has now been suspended was dating Tierra Christy since five years and was the ex-wife of Brandyn. The two are parents of two daughters aged 12 and 10.

“‘I’m going to treat you like you’re grown’. That’s what really got me. And the ‘delete these messages’ and just grooming,” said Harris.
All of the texts, which were sent to FOX 2 early in the morning, were purportedly from Harris.
Harris asks her what game she is playing first and then invites her to play Sims FreePlay. However, when he urges her to keep their texts private, the conversation shifts to something more improper.

“If u wanna keep texting u will have to keep our conversation between me and u. On some friendly type of stuff?” he wrote.
In response, the child said her dad looks through her phone.
“Oh, lol. Delete these messages, then. Tell me if you figure something out. He said, “We’re planning a family vacation shortly as well.
She replied that she had an iPad when he gave her a second phone.
“Ur iPad is connected to ur iPhone so ur message can be seen. Create a new text now number or something idk. But delete these messages and from ur trash. Let me know when u create a safe line to text u on,” he wrote.
The young kid reaffirmed that her dad checks her gadgets and claimed to have made a new account. He urged her to remove the texts once more.

He states that she is old enough near the end of the passages.
“With me, you can be honest. I don’t mind if you curse or are who you are. He wrote, “I won’t tell your people.” Then he spoke. “I’m gonna treat u like ur grown ur mature enough.”

However, the little girl chose not to take the bait. She went to her aunt instead.
Chief Todd Bettison said Anderson was promptly suspended when Harris went to the police. Additionally, he stated that they are working to get him removed from payroll as quickly as possible.
Harris encouraged other parents to monitor their children.
“Just be mindful. “Check those phones,” Harris said.
One count of accosting a kid for immoral motives is the charge against Anderson. A $200,000 cash bond is being used to hold him.
