Despite winning the first-set of his semi-final tie against Thai ace Kunlavut Vitidsarn, Indian shuttler HS Prannoy failed to emerge victorious and crashed out of the 2023 BWF World Championships with a bronze medal. Unfortunately, Prannoy lost the match 21-18,13-21,14-21 against Vitidsarn, who secured a comeback win to secure his berth in the championship match. Meanwhile, fourth-seed Kodai Naraoka won 25-21,21-12 against Dane shuttler Anders Antonsen to qualify for the final. On Sunday, Vitidsarn and Naraoka will face-off with the men’s singles championship at stake.

Elsewhere, top-seed An Se-young secured straight-set victory by score of 21-19,21-15 against the reigning Olympic Champion Chen Yufei and qualified for Sunday’s final. In the other semi-final, former world champion Carolina Marin outplayed the reigning world champion Akane Yamaguchi to win 23-21,21-13. According to the official schedule, An will play against Marin on Sunday and can clinch her maiden World Championships with a victory.
