The best male badminton player in Taiwan Chou Ten Chien is in a strong position to claim his fourth Taipei Open singles crown on Sunday as he advanced to the summit clash after winning his semifinal match against Malaysian opponent Soong Joo Ven at the Taipei Heping Basketball Gymnasium.

The Taipei Heping Basketball Gymnasium is the venue of the $500k Yonex Taipei Open badminton final, which will bring an end to the competition on July 24, 2022. On Sunday, five finals across all events will be held and five champions will be crowned.

Soong Joo Ven’s impressive run came to an end in the 2022 Taipei Open men’s singles semifinal. In front of his home audience, the match was won by the top-seeded Chou Tien in 42 minutes with scores of 21-12, 21-12. The tournament’s defending winner, Tien Chen, will square off against Kodai Naraoka of Japan in the championship match on Sunday. In the semi-finals, Naraoka defeated Lin Chun Yi of Taiwan 21-19, 22-20. Chou, who aims to win his first championship this year, stated that doing well in the championship game is crucial.

2022 Taipei Open Badminton Men’s Singles Final Schedule
The final match between local superstar Chou Tien and Japanese star Kodai Naraoka is scheduled to be played on Sunday and will take place after 12:00 PM, immediately following the culmination of women’s singles final match. As per bookmakers, top-seed Chou Tien is the overwhelming favorite in the final owing to support from home crown and superb form. Chou’s winning odds are 1.51 while his opponent Naraoka’s winning odds are listed at 2.46.

Points Award System
The BWF point distribution method determines how many points are awarded for each round of the BWF World Tour Super 300 competition. The winner of the Men’s Singles event will receive 7,000 BWF points, while the runner-up will score 5,950 points. Chou Tien will be hoping to gain maximum BWF points possible from the competition and move up in the BWF world rankings by winning the championship match.

Prize Money Pool Distribution
The entire prize pool for the 2022 Taipei Open will be US$500,000 when the prizes are distributed in accordance with BWF regulations. The male singles competition winner will furthermore receive the highly desired gold medal and $37,500 from this reward fund. The silver medal and a total cash prize of $19,000 will go to the runner-up.
