A badminton competition called the Japan Open is held each year since 1977. In 2007, it was incorporated into the BWF Super Series competitions and since 2018, the BWF has designated the Japan Open as one of the five BWF World Tour Super 750 competitions.

Japan Open Full Winners List, Most Successful Countries And Indian Shuttlers in Japan Open

No Indian shuttler has ever managed to win a gold medal in any of the categories since the Japan Open’s beginning. The Japan Open has always been dominated by shuttlers from China, Indonesia and South Korea. Indonesia has won a total of 31 gold medals from the Japan Open across all categories, while South Korea brought home 28. China, the tournament’s most successful country, has won 74 championships overall, including 25 in the Women’s Singles classification while hosts Japan have won 9 gold medals overall.

Kento Momota has won previous two editions of men’s singles event at Japan Open and is the favorite for upcoming edition due to the absence of reigning Olympic champion Viktor Axelsen.
