The $750,000 Japan Open badminton tournament will take place at Osaka’s Maruzen Intec Arena from August 30 to September 4 in 2022. Home favorite and reigning world champion Akane Yamguchi defeated Saina Nehwal, the sole competitor from India in first round. Fans can, however, enjoy the intense rivalry amongst the top five shuttlers, who are all vying for the gold medal.

2022 Japan Open Badminton Women’s Singles Second Round Results, Score, Winners, And Indian Performance
On the women’s side, Chen Yu Fei, who won the gold medal at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, defeated Beiwen Zhang 21-15, 21-10, while two-time defending world champion Yamaguchi Akane defeated He Bing Jiao 18-21, 21-13, 21-12. The top five-ranked female shuttlers in the world all advanced to the quarterfinals thanks to fifth-seed Carolina Marin, second-seed Tai Tzu Ying, and third-seed An Se Young’s progression to the final eight.
Friday’s quarterfinal matches will be full of heavyweight clashes including An Seyoung vs Carolina Marin, Akane Yamaguchi vs Pornpawee Chochuwong, and eighth seed Intanon against Tai Tzu-ying.

Points Award System
The BWF World Tour Super 750 competition’s point allocation was based on the BWF point distribution system. According to the rules, the winner of the Women’s Singles competition will receive 11,000 BWF points, while the loser will receive 9.350 points. Given the close proximity of the top-ranked women’s singles players, the considerable number of points up for grabs will be crucial in determining the BWF world rankings.

Prize Money Pool Distribution
A total of $750,000 will be the total prize purse for the 2022 Japan Open once the awards are distributed in accordance with BWF guidelines. The winner of the women’s singles competition will receive $52,500, and the runner-up will receive $25,500 from this pool. Meanwhile, $10,500 total prize money will be given to each of singles semi-finalists in 2022 Japan Open.
