Players
Grigor Dimitrov Top Seed: Making his second appearance in Winston-Salem, the Bulgarian will try to recover from a discouraging first-round loss to Denis Shapovalov in Cincinnati.
Dominic Thiem makes his debut: In July, Thiem displayed hints that he was getting back to his best, making it to the quarterfinals in Bastad and Kitzbühel and the semifinals in Gstaad. The Austrian will try to continue his momentum on his season debut in Winston-Salem, where he will compete in his first hard-court event.
There are 16 seeds among the 48 players in the tournament’s current draw. A first-round bye is granted to all players with seeds.
