New tournament is on it’s way named Gijon Open. The ATP 250 event marks it’s inaugural season in 2022.
One of the two ATP circuit events happening this week is the Gijon Open. There won’t be many top players because it is the first competition of its kind.
However, the tournament’s main draw includes a few well-known players. Andrey Rublev, Andy Murray, Dominic Thiem, and Pablo Carreno Busta are a few of them.

The competition will be held at the Palacio de Deportes de Gijon in Gijon, Spain.

Schedule
On October 8 and 9, the quantifying rounds will be held, and on Monday, October 10, the main draw will begin. Monday through Thursday will see the first and second round contests.
On Friday, the quarterfinals are set to happen, and on Saturday and Sunday, respectively, the semifinals and championship game.
At 1:30 pm local time, the doubles final will start; at 4 pm, the singles final will follow.
Players, Seeds And Draw
Only Andrey Rublev, a member of the top 10, is in the Gijon Open main draw. The Russian has been successful recently, making it to the semifinals of the Astana Open and the US Open quarterfinals most recently. Rublev has a decent chance of winning his fourth championship of the year.
Pablo Carreno Busta, the Canadian Open champion and a Gijon native, is the second seed at the Gijon Open and is hoping to rebound after falling in the opening round of the Sofia Open.
The third and fourth seeds in the ATP 250, respectively, Roberto Bautista Agut and Francisco Cerundolo, both have the ability to contend for the championship.
In addition to the other players with seeds, Albert Ramos Vinolas, Tommy Paul, Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, Sebastian Baez, and Albert Davidovich Fokina are all capable of performing well in Gijon. The other participants in the main draw include Dominic Thiem and Andy Murray.

ATP Gijon Open Points Table And Prize Money Distribution
The prize pool for 2022 is $612,000, the same amount as the competition conducted in Florence the same week.
The winner in Gijon will take home a prize of $93,090, while the runner-up will receive little over half that amount ($54,300).
