The Transylvania Open was a huge success on the WTA Tour when it was first played in 2021. The then-reigning US Open champion Emma Raducanu and home heroes Simona Halep, Bogdan, and Cristian, who is famed for sporting a Count Draucla costume, attracted large spectators to the first edition.
Sadly, the Briton, who was a huge favourite is forced to withdraw from the tournament following injury.

Venue
The indoor hardcourts at the BTarena in Cluj Napoca, Romania, are the site of the Transylvania Open.

Schedule
The qualifying rounds will be on October 8 and 9, while the main draw will start on Monday, October 10. Matches in the first and second rounds will be held from Monday through Thursday. On Friday, the quarterfinals will take place, and on Saturday and Sunday, the semifinals and final, respectively.
Players, Seeds And Draw
The tournament’s top seed, Barbora Krejcikova, will play Hungarian Damla Galfi in her first round, but she’ll have tough competition from the likes of seventh seed Wang Xinyu and last year’s quarterfinalist Jacqueline Cristian.
Ana Bogdan, the top-ranked Romanian in the draw, has a challenging first-round opponent in Jule Niemeier, who advanced to consecutive second rounds at two Grand Slam events: Wimbledon and the US Open. Another prominent name in Bogdan’s neighbourhood is Marta Kostyuk.
An extremely competitive bottom half of the draw is led by second seed Anhelona Kalinina, Magda Linette, Anastasia Potapova, and Ana Bondar.

WTA Transylvania Open Points Table And Prize Money Distribution
$251,750 will be awarded in prizes during the 2022 Transylvania Open. A check for $33,200 and 280 ranking points will be awarded to the female singles champion.
