The Philippine men’s basketball squad initiated their Asian Games 2023 campaign on a triumphant note by defeating Bahrain with a score of 89-61 during their inaugural Pool C match held at the Hangzhou Olympic Center on Tuesday. Angelo Kouame and CJ Perez were pivotal in their victory, both contributing 15 points, while Justin Brownlee made a significant impact with 14 points and nine rebounds, setting the tone for a remarkable opening victory. Gilas Pilipinas will carry their momentum forward as they prepare to face Thailand in their next pool game on September 28th at 11:00.
The women’s basketball action is set to commence on September 27, with the Indian squad squaring off against Indonesia on the inaugural day of competition.
