2023 Asian Para Games results today, key performers, and Indian medal winners

Sumit Antil, the reigning Olympic and world champion, accomplished a remarkable feat by successfully retaining his gold medal in the men’s javelin F64 event at the 2023 Asian Para Games. Sumit Antil made his mark with his very first throw, covering a distance of 66.22 meters, which easily surpassed the Games Record of 56.29 meters that he had set back in 2018 in Jakarta. His second throw measured an impressive 70.48 meters, coming close to the 70.83-meter world record he had achieved at the World Para Athletics Championships in Paris earlier this year.

Another exceptional performance came from Sundar Singh, who shattered the world record in the Men’s Javelin Throw-F46 final with an astonishing throw of 68.60 meters, securing the gold medal. This remarkable feat exceeded the previous record held by Sri Lankan athlete Dinesh Priyantha, who had a record of 67.79 meters. Sundar Singh’s throw also surpassed the existing Games and Asian Records.

In the men’s javelin throw F37/38 category, Haney secured the gold medal by achieving a Games record with a throw of 55.97 meters in his third attempt. Furthermore, India saw Ankur Dhama and Rakshitha Raju clinching gold medals in the men’s and women’s 1500m T11 events, respectively. Nimisha Suresh added to India’s glory by winning a gold medal in the Women’s long jump T47 category.
