PV Sindhu, a two-time Olympic medalist, will lead India’s charge in both the women’s singles and team events at the upcoming competition. In the 2018 Jakarta Games, she clinched a silver medal, narrowly missing out on the gold after a defeat against Tai Tzu Ying. This time, she aims to improve upon that performance and secure the top spot on the podium. Unfortunately, Saina Nehwal, who won a bronze medal at the 2018 Jakarta Games and had previously secured a bronze at the London 2012 Olympics, will not be participating in this year’s event. Another promising duo to watch out for in women’s doubles is Gayatri Gopichand and Treesa Jolly, currently ranked 18th in the world rankings for women’s doubles in badminton.

The Indian men’s badminton team is composed of HS Prannoy, Lakshya Sen, and Kidambi Srikanth in men’s singles, along with Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy in men’s doubles. Remarkably, all of them have achieved medals at world championships. HS Prannoy, who holds the position of India’s highest-ranked men’s singles player at the Hangzhou 2023 event, secured a bronze medal at the world badminton championships in Copenhagen this past August. Meanwhile, Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy, popularly known as the “Brothers of Destruction,” are poised to make an impact following their outstanding season, which included victories at the Swiss, Indonesia, and Korea Opens.
