Famous Chinese Racer, Zhou Guanyu has been declared ‘fit’ and was released from the Medical Centre after a nasty car crash on the first lap of British Grand Prix in his latest health condition update
On Jul 3, Sunday, the British Grand Prix’ opening was red-flagged due to opening corner multi car crash took place at Silverstone.
In this nasty crash, Zhou Guanyu’ car flipped upside down and went over the circuit’s barrier, while Pierre Gasly found himself sandwiched between Zhou and George Russell.

Zhou’ head was saved by his car’s roll hoop-halo as his car skidded through the gravel trap and over tyre barriers and finally caught into the fencing. His car bounced back to finish the semi-upright in a stationary position.
Due to which he had received the medic’s attention in his car and Alfa Romeo confirmed that the Chinese Racer was “Okay” and had been taken to the Medical Centre for further tests and checks.
After having done with examinations, Zhou was released from the Medical Centre and Alfa Romeo confirmed this positive news with the media.
In their brief statement, Alfa Romeo’s team had said that, “Alfa Romeo F1 Team driver, Zhou Guanyu, has been declared fit and released from the circuit’s Medical Centre”.
Other than Zhou, another driver Alex Albon aka Williams was also taken to the Medical Centre after a separate Turn 1 incident involving Sebastian And Yuki Tsuonda.
Later Williams confirmed that he had been transferred to the Coventry Hospital for further examination. The Thai driver is also later discharged from the hospital.
As for Zhou, the Alfa Romeo confirmed in an another Radio statement that he’s doing fine. They said that, “Zhou is conscious, he is talking, there are no fractures. Considering the circumstances, he is pretty good, pretty well”.
In an re-run video of the race, it is clearly seen that Russell who had to start as eighth, moved to his right after his poor beginning and he bumped into Zhou’s Alfa Romeo as the two driver tried to stay ahead of Pierre Gasly.
This led to Zhou’s car skidding off the circuit and dragging other vehicles into further less serious multiple collision.
