The officials issued a statement saying, “Despite taking their Class 10th or Class 12th exams in November, students who want to enroll in professional courses out of UT have to wait until the new academic term as those universities start their session in July. Due to the November session, the precious time of students gets wasted.”

The statement further included that the change will bring the academic session in line with the schools across. Furthermore, it was disclosed that the March to March session idea is practically finished and only requires a formal order.

All necessary preparations have been made, and this session’s 10th and 12th-grade exams are anticipated to take place in March.

Implementation Of The New Education Policy

As part of the government’s decision, the Higher Education Department (HED) is to implement both the National Education Policy (NEP)-2020 and the Uniform Academic Calendar simultaneously starting with the current academic year. Dr. Arun Kumar Mehta, the Chief Secretary of the State Education Department of Jammu and Kashmir, presided over a high-level meeting to assess and discuss strategies for implementing the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 in J&K in April this year.

Additionally, it was decided during the meeting to launch the four-year undergraduate program in J&K colleges at the beginning of the current academic year in accordance with UGC standards. The department also plans to prominently feature the calendar on the college website.
