Who Is Ryan Burl?

Ryan Burl is a famous Zimbabwean cricketer who recently caught everyone’s attention by hitting 5 sixes and 1 four in a single over.

His full name is Ryan Ponsonby Burl. He was born in Marondera, Zimbabwe, on April 15, 1994.

When he attended the Peterhouse Boys School, he enjoyed playing squash, but his passion for cricket and, more especially, the camaraderie of the team sport, pulled him in and inspired him to become an international cricketer.

His height is 5 feet 10 Inches or 178 cm and his weight is 70 kg. He is currently 28 years old and is married to Sarah Kylie.

His Career

Ryan Burl was included in an academy team by Zimbabwe Cricket in February 2017 for a tour of England later in the year. On September 12, 2017, he played his first Twenty20 match for Mis Ainak Knights in the Shpageeza Cricket League.

With 401 runs in five games, he was the top run-scorer for Rising Stars in the 2017–18 Logan Cup. He was chosen in November 2019 to represent the Chattogram Challengers in the Bangladesh Premier League for the 2019–20 season. Later, he was chosen to represent the Rhinos in the 2020–21 Logan Cup in December of that year.

Ryan Burl participated in the 2014 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup team for Zimbabwe. He debuted for Zimbabwe in an ODI match against Afghanistan on February 16 at the Harare Sports Club.

Burl was a member of Zimbabwe’s Test team for their lone match against South Africa in December 2017. On December 26, 2017, during the Boxing Day Test against South Africa, he made his Test debut for Zimbabwe.

On February 5, 2018, he made his Twenty20 International (T20I) debut for Zimbabwe against Afghanistan. He hit 30 runs against Shakib Al Hasan in the opening T20I match of the 2019–20 Bangladesh Tri-Nation Series in September 2019, setting a new record for a Zimbabwean batter.
