Wolff talked about Mercedes’ car and how the team was always working around new parts ahead of the French GP 2021

For Mercedes and Lewis Hamilton in particular, the last month has threatened to snatch the 2021 Formula 1 titles from them. From being in control of their destiny to now chasing Red Bull, the team finds itself in a calamitous soup.

Ahead of the French Grand Prix, Lewis Hamilton believes that things are still not looking too bright for the side. Speaking ahead of Sunday’s race, Hamilton said that the debacles of Monaco and  Azerbaijan could easily stretch into the France as well.

Hamilton has been particularly perturbed with the car off late and how has talked about how its let him down. In a bid to assuage any fears related to the Mercedes car, principal Toto Wolff spoke ahead of the F1 French Grand Prix on Friday, affirming that Mercedes were more than willing to work around with their parts.

Toto Wolff Mitigates Hamilton’s Fears Ahead Of The French GP

Wolff in particular stressed upon the chassis of the car with him saying that while the chassis from last season wasn’t immensely overloaded, the team was always willing to switch it if it would help put Hamilton at ease.

“We swap parts around all of the time and this is part of the planning as these are carried-over chassis,” said Wolff.

“But it is good to get the feedback and if it calms the driver’s mind, we have a spare chassis which is a brand new one. We can always do that,” he added.

Valtteri Bottas Outshines Lewis Hamilton At French GP Practice

In both sessions at the Paul Ricard circuit, Bottas managed to outshine his counterpart. The practice on Friday saw Bottas finish first in FP1 while he was second in FP2, just 0.008secs behind Max Verstappen.

Meanwhile, Hamilton trailed Bottas by one position, finishing second fastest in FP1 and third in the second practice. It remains to be seen if both can emulate their strong drives come the critical qualifying on Saturday.
