What Exactly Happened?

Back in December 2025, age 23 Sikh Digwa encountered 18-year-old finance student, Henry Nowak, walking back home alone after a night out in Southampton, England.

After a brief altercation, Digwa stabbed the young and unarmed student reportedly 5 times with a 21cm (8-inches) blade.

Reportedly, when the authorities reached the crime scene, at the time, Digwa claimed to be a victim of a racist attack and claimed that he had acted strictly in self-defence.

On May 28th, 2026, the jury rejected Digwa’s self defence pleading and convicted him of murder and crying a blade. Following two days after, on June 1st, 2026, he was given his life time sentence.

In addition, his 53-year-old mother, Kiran Kaur, was also convicted for assisting an offender, as she removed the murder weapon from the scene and sheath it back and hid it at their family home. Her sentence is scheduled for July 17th, 2026.

Who is Vickrum Digwa?

For the curious, Vickrum Digwa is a 23-year-old Sikh Indian-British man, and is currently behind bars serving his life time sentence with minimum 21 years of imprisonment for the murder of Henry Nowak.

He was born and brought up in Southampton. At the time of writing this article, there is no information about Digwa’s educational background or his qualifications.

There isn’t much information available about Digwa and his family, however, a deeper analysis reveals that on the day of crime, he was helping out his brother with delivering food.

For curious, Digwa doesn’t have any prior criminal conviction history. Furthermore, after a raid took place at their home, Digwa’s father, Moga Singh, who’s 57-years-old and brother Gurpreet Singh, who’s 27-years-old were charged with 6 counts of possessing offensive weapon in a private place.

As per police reports, the weapons recovered from their family home involves a machete, swords, an air rifle, knuckledusters, and an axe.
