After requiring surgery to fix his right leg following a vehicle accident in February 2021, the 46-year-old made a stunning return at the Masters in April. At Augusta National and the PGA at Southern Hills, he made the cut before withdrawing after the third-worst major round of his career.
The American has won the US Open three times, the most recent of which he won in a playoff at Torrey Pines in 2008, despite a left knee injury.
Woods stated that he will “be ready to play in Ireland” the week before the British Open at the JP McManus Pro-am.
He has won the Claret Jug twice, in 2000 and 2005, in St Andrews, Scotland. Woods, who is currently ranked 881st in the world, won his most recent major championship at the Masters three years ago after undergoing spinal fusion surgery in 2017.
According to sources in the US media, Woods rejected a substantial offer to join the Saudi-backed LIV Golf International Series, which has its maiden event this week in England.
