Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik of Malaysia continues to struggle on the Open circuit after losing in the Thailand Open semi-finals today. The world No. 6 men’s doubles duo fell to Indonesia’s Fajar Alfian-Muhammad Rian Ardianto for the second time this season, losing 21-19, 21-14 in just 34 minutes. On Sunday, the fifth-seeded Indonesians will face Takuro Hoki-Yugo Kobayashi of Japan in the final.
Meanwhile, Malaysia’s No. 1 Pearly Tan-M.Thinaah lost 21-17, 21-17 against Japan’s Nami Matsuyama-Chiharu Shida in the women’s doubles semi-finals, falling short of reaching their first Super 500 final. In the final, the Japanese couple will meet their colleagues and fifth seeds Mayu Matsumoto-Wakana Nagahara.
