Following Vidal’s removal from her car by the police, body camera footage from the traffic stop captured the moment the hairy rodent was seen tinkering with the pipe.

In the video, one of the officers could be heard saying, “Oh..hey,” before bursting into laughter and calling the other attending officer to come have a look.

“The racoon has her meth pipe!” he said in disbelief.

“He’s playing with her meth pipe right now!”

Officers claimed that the pipe was necessary for evidence, despite an elderly woman in the car with Vidal trying to take it out of its mouth.

“I don’t want him [the raccoon] to have that,” the elderly woman said.

He told Chewy, “All right, enough games and fun,” before he burst out laughing in surprise once more.

Investigation

When police searched the car, they found three used glass meth pipes, crack cocaine, and a large amount of methamphetamine Authorities were notified to verify if Vidal had the required documentation to own Chewy, and police confirmed that the animal was unharmed.

“While our officers are trained to expect the unexpected, finding a raccoon holding a meth pipe is a first! No raccoons were hurt or injured in this incident,” Springfield Township PD wrote.

Depending on the results of a drug test, the 55-year-old will be charged with additional crack cocaine possession in a grand jury.
