‘Montoya Por Favor’ trending meme explained
The popular quote has seemingly popped up everywhere in memes and videos across social media. It originally comes from a short clip from season eight of the popular Spanish reality television show La Isla de las Tentaciones (Spanish version of Temptation Island).
The clip comes from the third episode featuring a contestant named José Carlos Montoya. The episode shows Montoya’s girlfriend Anita Williams getting close and personal with a new contestant to the Villa and cheating on him with Manuel as Montoya watched on. In response, Montoya begins sprinting across the beach towards the house, with a producers shouting “Por favor Montoya, por favor!”. The quote seemingly translates to “Please, Montoya, please!” in English.
The clip of the episode has since gone viral on X, after a user, @ProjectLabX, posted it with the caption:
