USA managed to cause a massive upset, beating Bangladesh by five wickets in the first T20I of their three-match series. Earlier in the match, USA restricted Bangladesh to a score of 153-6. Meanwhile, USA found themselves in trouble during the 12th over with a score of 78-4. However, Harmeet Singh manged to step up for the team, scoring 33 in just 13 balls. Aside from batting, Harmeet also had a decent outing with the ball, as he gave up just 27 runs in four overs.
After the match, he stated in the interview:
I was backing ourselves to chase down in the 18th over the way the wicket was playing. We are pretty used to playing on slow wickets over here. The Bangladeshis would have found it a little bit tacky and hence they held themselves back a bit. Kudos to our batsmen who kept us in the hunt. When I had 50 runs to get in the last 4 overs I was backing myself to chase them down”
