Shafiqur Rahman Barq, who was the oldest MP in Parliament, recently passed away on Tuesday, February 27, 2024. The veteran MP passed away at a private hospital in Moradabad.
Following his death, the Samajwadi Party posted on X:
The demise of senior Samajwadi Party leader and several-time MP Mr. Shafiqur Rahman Barq Saheb is extremely sad. May his soul rest in peace.”

He most recently got elected to the Lok Sabha as a Samajwadi Party candidate in 2019. Shafiqur passed away on February 27, 2024, in Moradabad at the age of 93.
